I was reminded today that I’m not an action or sports photographer, but I didn’t care in the least. I was a little like a kid in a candy store, except I can’t touch (never mind eat) any of it — but rest assured, I took it all in through the lens to feed more than one fetish of mine.
Billed as the HOTTEST family event of the summer (no kidding), the Firefit Championships are on this Canada Day weekend! For small or large donation you discreetly tuck into one of six fire boots that guide your entrance into the fair-like grounds, you can watch what must be about 300 firefighters compete in feats of strength and endurance, including hose pulling and forcible entry. You can also enjoy the fireworks, movie night, and beer bar throughout the two days. All proceeds to go support Camp Bucko for burn victims.
I got to chatting with a professional action photographer (his long lens gives it away). When I told him I’m “just gettin in the mood” for Les Bals des Pompiers — the Firemen’s Ball in Paris, which kicks off France’s equivalent to Canada Day — he laughed and asked whether or not a calendar is on the horizon. He is not the first to ask (for) that! French firemen are part of the French military, so naughty calendars are not a possibility there. Heather says it would be perceived as undignified. We both bet the New York City fire fighters would go for it, though.
Here are some images from this morning’s events for your viewing pleasure:
And for those ladies who share my fetishes for firemen AND fetishes for watches, here’s the money shot ;)

….well and it is for charity…. wink…. somebody better warn those French firemen you’re coming K! oxoox
They can handle me ;)
